Lourdes are starting the year with a wonderful inquiry into
all forms of growing. Growing plants, growing ourselves,
growing our faith, growing in our classes and growing as
a school.
We began with a Jamie Oliver style 'hook in' where Mrs O'Connor
had each class try and guess what the vegetable was she
was holding up. Then the teachers were blindfolded and had
to guess the herb. Watch

The
volunteers from the 'Plant to Plate' programme are working
in our school teaching each child about growing vegetables.
Then each class will have a turn at cooking some produce.
We have three new raised bed planter boxes on the field
if you want to come and see how we are getting on.
Each class will be following a different direction in their
plant growing great so pop into class to see what they are
up to and how you can help.

Each class had one attempt to launch
their water rocket 'OUT THERE'
Fr Chris came to be an impartial judge.
With each rocket launching attempt the cheers went up and
the tension rose.
Our youngest class 'The Nest' won by a mile! Fr Chris shook
their hands and Mrs Cousins presented their winners certificate. See
the Rocket Launching Here
During
our 'Out There' Inquiry, classes will find out about weather
patterns, space, stars, the moon, earth's seasons and natural
disasters.

We gathered together in the hall on
a damp, cold winters morning to hook into this terms inquiry
topic - Kiwi Kai.
The children were treated to a traditional hot breakfast of
scrambled eggs, baked beans, spaghetti, toast and hot milo.
Many children enjoyed the fellowship and company of their
classmates for breakfast. The teachers cooked and served this
EXCELLENT breakfast.
Our hook in launches us off into finding out 'Where does our
kai come from?' ... Slide
