Dear Parents / Caregivers
Nga mihi nui ki a koutou

Welcome back. I hope you all got to spend some time relaxing with your children over the holidays and are ready for the busy term ahead.
We start our cross country training this week in readiness for our school cross country on June 3.
We also begin a new Inquiry unit on ‘Moana’ -’The Sea’ and as a hook in the PTFA have generously funded the whole school on a trip next week to the Aquarium in Napier which I know the children will be excited about.

Enjoy your week,      Jacinta Cousins ,   Principal

" Compassion "

Compassion is understanding and caring for someone who is in trouble, is hurt, or has made a mistake.
It is being kind and forgiving when others are sorry for what they have done.
It is caring deeply and wanting to help even if all you can do is listen or say kind words.

We practise Compassion when we:
notice when someone is hurt or needs a friend
stop what we are doing and show that we care
ask what hurts and listen patiently
forgive others and ourselves when mistakes are made

Alleluia!! He has risen! When disciples heard that Jesus' body was not in the tomb they were confused. Jesus appeared to them and greeted
them. They were shocked. But Jesus said, "Why are you so frightened? Why do you doubt? Look at my hands and my feet and see who I am. Touch me and find out for yourselves. Because you have seen me, you believe.
Blessed are those who have not seen, yet have believed." 40 days later, Jesus ascended into heaven. He entrusted His followers to carry
on his work when he was gone. May we all strive to be good disciples and share the joy of his victory over death!

School Trip
Friday week, May 13, the whole school, is going on a trip to visit the Aquarium in Napier. We will be travelling by bus leaving school at 9am and returning by 5pm. This is our hook in activity for our term’s inquiry unit about oceans and ocean life which we have called ‘Moana’. We thank the PTFA for funding this trip for us. Without their help it would not have been possible.
We will need 8 adults to accompany us on this trip to help with supervision. Please let us know if you can do so. Numbers are limited due to bus numbers so we will advise you if you are successful.
Please note that due to the longer day, children will need a substantial lunch and must have their jerseys and school jackets (if they have one) with them. They will be in their full school uniform
.
