Dear
Parents / Caregivers
Nga mihi nui ki a koutou
Welcome
back to school, it is wonderful to see the children’s
enthusiasm to begin a new term. We wish Mrs Cousins our
blessings while she is on sabbatical. Lourdes welcomes
Mrs Kean and Mrs Green working in Voyagers for the first
four weeks this term. We have an exciting term planned
kicking off with BOOK WEEKS. No that is not a typo, we
are having two weeks for celebrating books and literature.
I encourage you to read to your child in their first language
and share your special stories with them. Many thanks
to Mrs O’Connor for her diligence and leadership
in our upcoming celebrations. Today we have had the very
inspiring ‘David Elliot’ fly up from Dunedin
to hook us in to our inquiry topic ‘Inspire Me’.
Look out for this terms inquiry newsletter coming home
today.
Enjoy
your week, Jody Hayes

The
focus of our readings is the presence of God in
the calming of the storm. Elijah finds God, not
in the storm, earthquake or fire, but in the quiet,
gentle stilling of the storm. In the Gospel the
disciples, frightened by the storm, fail to recognize
Jesus walking on water. It is in the stilling
of the storm that they recognise him and praise
him.
We all have "storms" in life, we all
have fears, and Jesus wants us to have faith in
him; he will always take us by the hand and help
us.
Mufti
Day
We raised $197.70 from our inside out & upside
down day. Thank you for your unity in raising this
money for those not as fortunate as us.

Outstanding
Activity Donations
There are still quite a few families to pay the
$40 per child per year for activities that have
taken place and will take place over the next 2
terms. Non payers will receive a bill shortly for
the trip to Napier ($25 per child), swimming lessons
(6 at $3 each), plant to plate ($4) = $47. If you
take this option we will bill you for the remaining
2 terms in Term 4. You could still slip in on the
cheaper option. Your co operation in this matter
would be appreciated.

Netball
Future Ferns tournament (postponed 2nd Term) will
be held this Sunday 7th August at Vautier Park. Draw
has been given to each team member. Practice for the
Firebirds lunchtime Wednesday and Friday. Please remember
sneakers.
A big thank you to Chris, Rebecca and Marie and who
have coached our netball teams this season. We truly
appreciate your support of our girls and our school.
PTFA
meeting tonight in the staff room. Starts
at 7 pm and everyone is welcome.
We still desperately need helpers for our school fundraiser
this term - our fertiliser drive begins at 8 am. No need
to have a car or trailer, we need ‘man power’
to lift the bags. This one weekend of fundraising is usually
our best earner for the year. All offers of assistance
are gratefully received, leave your name and contact number
at the office and Mrs Rooney will pass it on.
